Franklin University and Hocking College hosted an event to officially mark the signing of an agreement between the two institutions, offering Franklin University’s 3+1 accounting and business administration completion programs onsite at Hocking College.

The May 25 signing not only adds to the strong partnership between the two institutions, but continues efforts to provide students with a cost-effective and access-oriented option to complete a bachelor’s degree. Through the agreement, the two institutions have created a pathway for students to complete their bachelor degree, transferring their Hocking College associate’s degrees and additional Bridge courses to Franklin and completing Franklin classes face-to-face onsite at Hocking College’s campus in Nelsonville in Franklin’s 3+1 accounting and business administration completion programs.

Dr. Betty Young, President of Hocking College and Dr. David R. Decker, President of Franklin University provided remarks before signing the agreement.

“Hocking College is proud to be a part of the Community College Alliance program and work so closely with Franklin University,” said Dr. Betty Young, “and we are grateful for the opportunity to provide another avenue of success for our students.”

“The signing of our partnership with Hocking College allows students in Athens County to benefit from expanded physical and financial access to education,” said Bill Chan, Executive Director of Domestic Expansion and Regional Campuses. “By expanding the opportunities students have to complete a bachelor’s degree we provide access to the broadest possible community of learners to achieve their goals and enrich the world.”

This new agreement provides students benefit from Franklin’s acceptance of previously earned college and professional education credits, minimizing the time and money it takes to earn a bachelor’s degree while allowing learners to stay in Nelsonville.
