Mallory Spring, a first-year Wildlife Management student at Hocking College, was awarded the Muskingum Community Youth Foundation Bright Futures Award.

She spends a great deal of time and energy on 4-H programs. 4-H is the nation's largest youth development organization, administered by the National Institute of Food and Agriculture of the United States Department of Agriculture, with the mission of "engaging youth to reach their fullest potential while advancing the field of youth development."

In 2011, when Spring was just 14 years old she earned the Ohio 4-H Achievement Award in Veterinary Science, the highest project award in the state. She also won local, state and national scholarships from the Wild Turkey Federation. Spring is a 4-H camp counselor and mentor, archery instructor and Sunday school leader.

Spring takes on leadership roles in almost everything she does and encourages other students to take the lead as well. "Mallory's involvement in school, church and community activities make her a well-rounded individual destined to succeed in higher education and life," said nominator Jamie McConnell.

Spring will be honored along with seven other women as the 2015 Women of Achievement recipients during a dinner and ceremony on Wednesday, April 15 at the Ohio University Zanesville / Zane State College Campus Center.
