The Hocking College School of Public Safety is offering a two-day Point Shooting course from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on October 11 and 12, 2014 at the Hocking College Outdoor Training Complex.

Applegate Point Shooting is a system that evolved during the World War Two era. The course will cover techniques using a handgun in close quarters defensive combat. All the techniques have been scientifically validated by an independent research organization and employed by numerous law enforcement organizations and the United States Military.

Students interested in attending the course must have a comprehensive knowledge of basic firearms safety guidelines and operational knowledge of their handgun. The following equipment is required for this course: serviceable pistol or revolver, strong side directional holster, two spare magazines/speed loaders with carrier, eye and hearing protection, fluids and food for consumption, and appropriate clothing.

Registration for the event will include a $350 course payment to cover the cost of all the range needs and ammunition in the following configuration 9mm, 40 calibers, 45 ACP and 38 special. Students wishing to use other calibers must supply 400 rounds of commercial ammunition at their own expense. The event will be limited to eight to nine students, and registration is first come, first served.
