The Ohio Youth Fire and EMS Training Academy successfully completed a week of training on the Hocking College campus July 6-12. Hocking College has been home to this training academy since 2004.
This educational opportunity allows high school age students to learn about the fire service, while giving them a solid skill base to enter their field when they are older. Students from throughout Ohio, and as far away as Massachusetts and New Jersey, spend a week on campus learning about various aspects of the fire service culminating with the senior students taking their Ohio Volunteer Firefighter Certification. OYFETA is a program of the Youth Programs Committee of the Ohio State Firefighters Association.
