The Hocking College Art Gallery will feature an exhibition of Paintings by Steve Ward beginning on March 17 with an opening reception on March 28, 2014 from 6-9 p.m. at the Hocking College Art Gallery during Nelsonville Historic Square’s Final Friday.
The exhibition will feature work from The Myrtle Creek Paintings collection depicting scenes of terrestrial alien visitation. Ward’s paintings express various aspects of other worldly events taking place, from the fleeting moment of a UFO sighting to the varied reactions of the onlookers, who range from a man in a tin foil hat to a meandering cow. With dark tones balanced by humorous absurdity, viewers will experience feelings of both fear and amusement.
Steve Ward currently resides in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. He received his Masters of Fine Arts from Southern Illinois University and went on to teach art in various locations. He continues to show his work both regionally and nationally.
The exhibition runs through April 11, 2014. The gallery is open Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 12-5 p.m.
