On November 2, 2013, Dan Neundorf, a second-year Fitness Management student, competed in the "Backyard Meet of the Century II" located in Sacramento, California. He placed second overall in this meet and boasted a pro-qualifying total.

He totaled 1,824 pounds with his personal best lifts on squat: 744 lbs., Bench: 358 lbs, and Deadlift: 722 lbs. This competition was held by Animal Pak, an extreme body-building gym that focuses on sacrificing the body to the sport and lifestyle of weightlifting.

In related news, Austin Keith, a second-year Fitness Management student, recently competed in body building contests in Austintown, Ohio and took second place in his group. This was his first competition and he is currently training to compete again. Keith also placed second in the Youngstown Cardinal classic that was held in September.

In addition to those winners, Klint Connery placed second in the Pittsburgh Pro Weightlifting Competition last May. Carri Woodgerd placed first in novice open class and took the overall win, as well.

Connery is a second-year Fitness Management student. Woodgerd is a Physical Therapy Assistant Program graduate from summer 2013.  Keith, Connery and Woodgerd posed at the Hocking College Weightlifting Competition held on November 7.
