Hocking College was ranked as one of "America's Top 50 Community Colleges" in Washington Monthly's September/October 2013 edition. Specifically, Hocking College ranks #31 and is the only two-year college in Ohio on the list.

This ranking is based on two sources of information: the Community College Survey of Student Engagement (CCSSE) and the U.S. Department of Education measures of student retention and completion. More than two-thirds of all community colleges, roughly 700 institutions, were included in this analysis.
