My Sister's Place, a local shelter for women who are victims or survivors of abuse in Athens, Hocking and Vinton Counties, was the recipient of a class project in the School of Public Safety Services.

Kelly Cooke, Licensed Social Worker and Executive Director of My Sister's Place, spoke to the Social Services Crisis Recognition and Referral class about the importance of the shelter and the services it offers.

The class selected to perform a class project to benefit My Sister's Place and held fundraisers to be able to purchase items that the shelter needs to serve the community.

"I wanted to do something as a public service for the community, and the group felt this was one area that could use the help," Donald Spradlin, first-year student, said. The class donated two large boxes of supplies to the shelter.
