Hocking instructors Luke Horn and Sue Fletcher recently took their ENGL 152 students, an Advanced Essay Skills class themed "Memorial Voices," to visit memorials and museums in Washington D.C. over the recent Veterans' Day weekend.
They invited three veterans to join the trip: Hocking students Nick Bucnis and Cody Cline, and Dana Delamater, an Air Force veteran now employed with the Veterans' Administration. Dana offered the group a short history of the recently completed Women's Memorial at Arlington Cemetery. Highlights of the trip included several museums, the Vietnam and Korean War Memorials and a visit to Arlington National cemetery to witness the changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
