Hocking students Amber Stilson and Matt McMillan have been awarded the National Association of Broadcasters Education Foundation (NABEF) Technical Apprenticeship Scholarship.

The students began the Technology Apprenticeship Program with an informational webinar featuring experts from the National Association (NAB) of Broadcasters and Society of Broadcast Engineers on March 30, 2011. The students will attend an all expense paid trip to the NAB show in Las Vegas in April, and will interact with leaders in the broadcast industry.

In May, students will participate in Radio Ink Convergence Conference held at the Silicon Valley campus of Microsoft. Additionally, the students will complete a two-month hands-on apprenticeship at a radio or television station this summer. They will then wrap up their experience with the apprentice program by spending one week at the NAB headquarters in Washington, D.C., developing a webcast that will be presented at the end of their visit.
