High school students experienced some of the courses offered through the Hocking College School of Natural Resources at the 2011 Natural Resources Showcase at Lake Snowden on April 15, 2011.
Hocking College students and instructors from Natural Resources programs demonstrated a variety of different skills, as prospective students explored a career in the outdoors. These program demonstrations included:
Geoenvironmental Science, Heavy Equipment, Landscape Management, Natural Resources Law Enforcement, Parks & Recreation and Wildlife Management programs were also part of the Showcase.
Hocking College has already held showcase events in Nursing and Allied Health on March 1, 2011, Engineering, Business and Computer Information Technology on April 1, 2011, Public Safety Services on April 7, 2011 and the McClenaghan Center for Hospitality Training on April 8, 2011.
Upcoming Hocking College showcases include: Advanced Energy Showcase at the Hocking College Energy Institute on April 29, 2011 and the Arts and Sciences Showcase at the main campus on April 28, 2011.

- Learning how to handle fish in the Fish and Aquaculture Management/Science program.
- Operating a skidder in the Timber Harvesting program.
- Feeling the heat of a controlled burn with the Forest Management program.
- Taking a step back in time with the Archaeology program’s artifacts.
- Scaling the climbing wall and learning about guiding a backcountry trip with the Adventure Travel and Ecotourism program.
- Visiting the Natural & Historical Interpretation program to learn about the Hocking College Nature Center.
- Experiencing an introduction to Equine Health & Complementary Therapies, Farrier Science and Wilderness Horsemanship Programs.
