A formal ceremony was held recently at the Hocking College Perry Campus to induct 18 new members into Phi Theta Kappa, the international honor society of two-year colleges. Accounting Instructor and faculty advisor Pat Chute said this was one of the largest groups of inductees to date. To be eligible for membership, candidates must have a GPA of at least a 3.3, and pledge to support the principles and ideals of Phi Theta Kappa.
Reverend Art Minnehan delivered the keynote address and focused on the inductees' achievements. Also, he urged the students to do their very best in their home communities after graduation to uphold the society's four tenets of conduct: scholarship, leadership, fellowship and community service.
The Beta Lambda Nu induction class of 2011 included: Robert Alexander, Natasha Alfman, Colton Barnhart, Richard Bundock, Patricia Clarke, Sarah Frame, Candace Goines, Chelsea Heise, Pam Holden, Sarah Lang, Jessica Malone, Michelle McCrady, Scott Poling, Ashley Salyer, John Settle, Jared Sawtelle, Dakota Sowers and Amy Thompson.
