More than 200 SkillsUSA members and their advisors worked to brighten-up Nelsonville during their July 20, 2011 community service project. Throughout the day, members continuously showed their appreciation by giving back to the community.
Some of the events that were accomplished included cleaning and painting Stuart’s Opera House interior walls, cleaning downtown business windows, painting the storefront of the Spinning Turtle, weeding multiple areas surrounding the square, pressure washing and waxing two engines and priming a Hocking Valley Scenic Railway caboose, as well as cleaning out all of the passenger cars.
Hocking College has proudly been the host site for SkillsUSA’s Summer Leadership Camp for the past six years. SkillsUSA is an organization based on career and technical education that is comprised of students, teachers and industry partners.
Hocking College is currently the only college in Ohio to offer a collegiate chapter. For more information or to join the Hocking College chapter, please contact Amy Roe at 740.753.7163.
