The Nursing and EMT Paramedic Certificate programs celebrated success after achieving 100 percent pass rates on their respective tests.
The Hocking College School of Nursing achieved a 100 percent passing rate for first-time candidates on the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) for Spring Quarter in both the Practical Nursing (PN) and Registered Nursing (RN) programs. This is the first time all graduates from both the PN and RN programs have passed.
Across the United States, graduates with an Associates Degree have only had an 89.5 percent pass rate, compared to Hockings’ 100 percent. When taking the NCLEX, a graduate has up to six hours to complete the RN exam and five hours for the PN exam.
The Hocking EMT Paramedic Certificate class of 2010-2011 also succeeded with a 100 percent pass rate on their National Registry Practical Exam taken August 27, 2011. The exam consists of 13 separate stations testing the skills and knowledge of the student, ranging from cardiology, airway management and basic EMT skills.
