The Hocking College School of Natural Resources and Rebecca Wood, a Hocking College instructor, will present the final program in the Central America study abroad series, Sisters of the America’s 2012 Global Studies. The program will take place in Costa Rica, during winter quarter from January 9 to February 24, 2012.

Hocking students, as well as students from other Ohio universities and community members, are invited to participate in this trip. Students must enroll in a minimum of 12 full time credits while abroad. Courses range from biology to environmental sustainability to Central American cultures.

Participants are responsible for securing their own airline ticket, passport and a current tetanus vaccine. The total cost of the trip will average $6,500, including airfare, program fees, Hocking College full-time tuition and $500 spending money. Financial aid and scholarships are available; however, cannot be applied to the cost of travel, passport, student travel ID or immunizations.

Wood is a graduate of Hocking’s two original Natural Resources programs: Forestry and Recreation and Wildlife Management. She offered her first trip in 2001, with four Hocking students attending. Other trips in the Sisters of the America’s Global Studies series have included visits to Belize, Guatemala, Costa Rica, the Bahamas and Panama.

Those interested in participating should contact Wood immediately, as only a few spaces are available. Wood can be reached at wood_r@hocking.edu or 740.753.6261.
